Mixtape La Tabaquera 15: Benin!

la tabaqueraOne diamond after the other! This amazing selection of Benin songs takes us right into the rich musical tradition of this West-African country. Benin may be small in regard to its territorial size but its musical wealth is incredible and outshines many other African countries.

This mixtape, compiled by La Tabaquera (soundcloud project of Brazilian Garganta Records) contains a fine selection of tunes from the diverse musical landscape in Benin, with a focus on Latin and Rumba influenes. My personal highlights on the mixtape: Tracks 3. ‘Wa Mon No Tchio‘, 4. ‘Nou Gnon Nou Mi Ma Do Se‘ and 9. ‘Wegne’nda M’Banda’

Some of the songs have been re-released by label Analog African and can be purchased via itunes. Their blog contains many detail information on their released albums. You may also enjoy La Tabaquera’s three mixtapes on Angolan and Congolese music (Part 1 & Part 2).
