‘Bayonet’ – Seye

bayonet seyeNigeria-born and Ecuador/Netherlands/UK-raised Seye (pronounced Shey-ah) delivers a fresh summer tune. ‘Bayonet‘ does not only sound like a wonderful pop track, it is perfectly produced and has the potential to be played on major radio stations. Many may know Seye from his collaborations with The Very Best (‘Kondaine‘ or ‘Masu Luso‘). He has already produced other excellent tracks (‘White Nose‘ or ‘Mexicana Bounce‘) that all increase our thirst for more stuff from this very promising artist.

Listen below to ‘Bayonet’ or watch the animated video:

‘Finish Line (Remix)’ – Dee Moneey (Feat. Paedeezy, Ice Prince, Reminisce, J.Town, M.anifest)

Dee-Money-Finish-Line-Rmx-ArtThe remix of Dee-Moneey‘s the first-class Hip Hop track ‘Finish Line‘ was actually released some weeks ago but it is still hitting the streets and I thought after the original version was already featured on JUSI I LOVE, there is need to give credit to this remix. Whereas the initial version featured Sarkodie and J-Town, four more West African Hip Hop heavyweights acknowledged the quality of the Gafacci-crafted beat and contributed rhymes: Ghanaian M.anifest, Paedeezy (R2bees) and Nigerian Ice Prince, and Reminisce.

‘Lupita Nyong’o’ – Chris Adwar

lupita chris adwarIt was recently announced that Oscar-winning Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o will take a leading role in the picturisation of ‘Americanah‘, the widely celebrated novel by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. All in all, the face of the young actress was omnipresent in the media since she won the Oscar for her role in the drama ‘12 Years Slave‘.

Of course, her international success was also celebrated in her home country, where it was just a matter of time until musicians would dedicate a song to her. Chris Adwar (from The Villagers Band) did just that. In the Benga ballad ‘Lupita‘ he translates his adoration into beautiful lyrics. In one line, he asks: “Who is this guy called Oscar and has he paid the bride price?”

Watch below the version with the lyrics translated into English.
